Ole Miss Wins 2022 Men's College World Series

Rebels Capture First National Title in Program History

The Ole Miss Rebels have defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 Men's College World Series finals, sweeping the best-of-three series in two games. This marks the first national championship in program history for Ole Miss.

Game 1: Mississippi 10-3 Oklahoma

In Game 1, Mississippi took an early lead with a solo home run by Jacob Gonzalez. Oklahoma stormed back to take the lead, but Ole Miss rallied with a three-run eighth inning to secure the victory.

Game 2: Mississippi 4-1 Oklahoma

Ole Miss repeated its success in Game 2, holding Oklahoma to just one run while scoring four of its own. Justin Bench hit a solo home run in the third inning to give the Rebels an early lead, which they never relinquished.

Tim Elko was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Series, batting .417 with two home runs and six RBIs. The Rebels went 5-1 at the MCWS, including a victory over the top-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.

Oklahoma's season ends with a 56-13 record, while Ole Miss finishes with a 45-23 mark. The Sooners will look to return to the College World Series in 2023, while the Rebels will aim to defend their title.
